National Podcast Day

PodcastDaySocial

Podcasting turns 10 years old this year. Near FM have always embraced this technology and we were the first media organisation in Ireland to podcast back in early 2005.

National Podcast Day is a day to celebrate and promote podcasts worldwide. A huge amount of our content is now podcasted and we now never remove older programmes that are uploaded so there is a huge back catalog quality programming available to listen to.

Here’s a selection of some of the programmes we’ve podcasted:

  • SPORT – If you’re interested in finding out about less mainstream local sports groups then maybe our ‘This Sporting Life‘ series will be of interest.
  • DRAMA – ‘Tales from the Northside‘ 3 audio dramas from local writers.
  • CURRENT AFFAIRS – ‘The Brief‘ Ireland’s only legal current affairs programme. Barristers Andrew Robinson and Peter Leonard offer comment on all the big legal stories of the day.
  • POLITICSEurope on Air‘ – This twenty part radio series looks at the impact the EU can have on the lives of Irish people and European identity.
  • HISTORY – ‘The Irish History Show‘ An in depth look at Irish History
  • DOCUMENTARY – ‘Frank Harte, A Life in Song‘ A three part documentary on Frank Harte, the Frank Harte Festival & An Góilín Traditional singing club.
  • SCIENCE – ‘Scibernia‘ A programme looking at science in Ireland.

Those are just a small sample of some of the content we have hosted on our podcast site so feel free to have a look and find something to your interest.

And to celebrate National Podcast Day we’re happy to release a never before broadcast audio drama exclusively online.
