At regular intervals, the people running any organisation need
to stand back from the pressures and complexities of its day-to-day
operations and think: What is this organisation capable of, and
what area the key choices facing it? Such a review is conducted
within the context of the organisationís overall mission,
and its current strategic objectives.
There isn't anything magical about a SWOT analysis, but it does
provide a useful framework it serves as a checklist and a way
of organising and discussing the main elements of the review.
This exercise offers the participants an opportunity to remind
themselves about such administrative planning issues, or to be
introduced to them.
They should break into smaller groups so that everyone gets an
opportunity to contribute as this can increase the possibility
of more information entering the debate.
