FORWARD PLANNING 1. Use the worksheet supplied. Use pencil so figures can be changed. If possible, fill in the entire form. 2. Discuss within the group the assumptions each figure is based on. Appoint someone in the group to keep a record of the discussion. 3. Finally, how confident do you feel about each figure? Colour code each figure, as follows:
Red A complete guess needs to be determined or estimated
Blue An estimate but the assumptions need to be checked
Green An estimate you can justify your assumptions with confidence
Yellow A known figure
Your report to the larger group should only give the Surplus/Deficit report for both years under review.
Just make sure you have done your sums as other members of the group may wish to question your assumptions.
But you should also indicate to the group and yourselves, just how many of the figures were in the 'Red' and 'Blue' categories. As this will indicate to you just how out of touch your group is with the financial affairs of the project.
