SESSION  01 : EXERCISE.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, SIGNIFIERS.

You have selected a topic or character at random. So has your partner.

What you should do:

You can concentrate on one topic, or you can complete both to show what creative directors you are. Introduce yourselves, as you will be asked each to introduce the other to the larger group when we reconvene. Confer with your partner about how, as directors of a movie or television series, you would indicate to your audience what message you wish to convey with your opening scene. Or what or whom your character represents. (For example, a pirate could have a patch, a broadsword, or a parrot, a beard or a peg leg) What you are doing is devising codes or clues that your audience (in this case the rest of the group) must break. You have about ten minutes to complete one or both of the topics. Good luck.
