By introducing the term equal, we raise another issue, central
to why and how individuals and organisations scattered across
the community can avail of this community radio station.
Some groups are well organised, and are well versed in using
the media to further their aims. They will have appointed a Public
Relations, or Press Officer to interface with the media. They
will issue press releases, and seek interviews, while other less
organised groups will not have reached even that level of media
sophistication.
How can your project respond to this situation?
How can you identify those most in need of an accessible local
medium?
How can you encourage them to avail of this opportunity to tell
their tale and enlist public support?
Perhaps an organised session of brainstorming would help?
But it needs to be focussed and well informed. Who is best placed
to do this evaluation?
Why, the group gathered here!
By your presence, you have shown an interest in democratic media.
And, as local people, you are best placed to outline knowledge
about the area.
The following module allows you to pool your knowledge and to
devise realistic access strategies.
